It is with much sadness that we inform you that Jeanine Neumann, our friend and colleague, died on June 15, 2008, from a recurrence of cancer. She was forty-seven years old.

Jeanine was one of the first employees of Berkshire Partners, joining the firm in 1986. In her longtime role as Director of Client Services, Jeanine managed our investor relations, marketing, communications and events and was known as a key voice of Berkshire to the external world. Jeanine distinguished herself by her eagerness to undertake a wide range of projects and responsibilities, which she accomplished with consistent excellence. With her remarkable commitment and energy, Jeanine helped shape Berkshire's culture of respect, dedication, and teamwork.

We are forever grateful for Jeanine's personal and professional contributions that have touched each of us over the past twenty-two years. Throughout her battle with cancer, Jeanine remained focused on her efforts at the firm and at home with her family. She was a tremendous friend and an inspiration to everyone who knew her.

Jeanine's family suggests that for those so interested, donations be made to The Greater Boston Food Bank, 99 Atkinson Street, Boston, MA 02118.

If you wish to express your thoughts and condolences to Jeanine's family, we are happy to collect your notes and pass them on to her family. Please send to Garth Greimann c/o Berkshire Partners LLC, One Boston Place, Suite 3300, Boston, MA 02108.

Jeanine was loved by Berkshire and contributed greatly to our Firm's success and its culture. We will honor her by continuing to strive for excellence, while aspiring to reflect her sense of fun and deep empathy for others. Her grace and spirit will remain with us forever.
