2009: On October 23, Berkshire volunteers helped two deserving organizations: the International Medical Equipment Collaborative (IMEC) and the MSPCA-Angell: Methuen Animal Care and Adoption Center at Nevins Farm.

International Medical Equipment Collaborative

IMEC's Mission is to serve doctors and nurses in developing countries by providing them with quality tools to advance the standard of heath care for their nation's poor. IMEC fulfills its mission by working with other humanitarian organizations to revitalize existing, impoverished hospitals in the developing world with donated medical surplus equipment and supplies, repaired and packaged by dedicated volunteers. Berkshire volunteers helped by assembling medical "suites," ranging from exam tables to supply cabinets directly installed on pallets that are then boxed and sent to third world countries.

MSPCA-Angell: Methuen Animal Care and Adoption Center at Nevins Farm

The MSPCA-Angell is an international leader in animal protection and veterinary medicine and provides direct hands-on care for thousands of animals each year. The MSPCA at Nevins Farm is unique, caring for small animals as well as farm animals and horses. They are home to unique programs including an Equine Ambulance & Rescue Training Program and a Humane Education Program featuring MSPCA Dog Training classes. Berkshire volunteers completed barn chores, repaired and painted fences, cleaned small animals and most importantly, provided lots of love to the animals at the farm.
